Sacred Valley Journey Julio 2, 2009

Hola,
Above are some pictures of the square I forgot to put in, and some of Chinchero village
After the square we headed up to the sleep village of Chinchero, which sits at a literally breathtaing 12,500 ft.
As we made our way into the main square of Chinchero, we were greeted by very polite locals selling handmade handicrafts, Alpaca sweaters and many other cool things.
We trekked down the ancient Incan terraces that still remain in Chinchero's hillsides. But for the people here, the ruins seem to be just a part of everyday life. Kids play hide and seek behind the old stone walls that protected and supported their ancestors 500 years ago.
The local people are very proud of their heritage, and continue traditions through their colorful clothing and one man who played me an Incan song with a flute made of bone. Just above these ruins is a church built by the colonizing Spanish. Chinchero is definitely one of my favorite places so far, with it's peaceful mountains and kind people.
Chau!
